Marine Operational Engineer - Senior



Position Summary:



Life Cycle Engineering is looking for Senior Marine Operational Engineers to join the LCE team supporting PMS 300 and 325 in Washington, DC. As a Senior Marine Operational Engineer, you will provide support for the Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E); Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I); and mission equipment and systems installed aboard ships, boats, craft and targets, including Combat Logistics Force (CLF), Special Mission Ships, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) assets.



Clearance Required:


  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance



    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


    • Provide engineering/technical support for concept studies; feasibility studies; preliminary design activities; contract design activities; detail design and construction activities; independent design reviews; In-service ship design and engineering activities; shipboard installation support; and special studies related to ships/boats/craft, ship systems and/or shipboard equipment.
    • Facilitate and provide required technical information expertise to Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), special advisory boards, off-sites, working groups and audit teams. The Contractor shall gt5perform research and work along with USCG, ABS, and other key stakeholders, such as, the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
    • Support, attend, and participate in ship, boat, service craft and seaborne target test and trials as requested by the Government. Test and trial events include, but are not limited to, Developmental Testing (DT), Operational Testing (OT), Initial Operational Test & Evaluation (IOT&E), Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Ship Acceptance Tests (SATs), Vendor Trials, Builder's Trials (BT), Acceptance Trials (AT), Pre-Delivery Inspection & Trials (PDIT), Post Delivery Test & Trials (PDT&T), Final Operational Test & Evaluation (FOT&E), and Final Contract Trials (FCT).
    • Provide recommendations on commercial ship and ship system performance specification and design and certification issues.
    • Conduct special studies, surveys and ship checks as required, in support of emerging requirements or to address technical issues. May require technical assistance in procurement, in-process design reviews, trial installations, Technical Evaluation (TECHEVAL), Operational Evaluation (OPEVAL), and test results analyses.



      Required Education, Skills, and Experience:


      • GED
      • Unlimited Horsepower Chief Engineers License Active or Inactive
      • Minimum 15+ years marine or navy shipbuilding or repair, Government technical management, or Industry business management
      • 10+ years sailing or port engineering experience, Government technical management, or Industry business management; Navy procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); Foreign Military Sales; Ship Operations and/or shipboard testing; Supervisory experience; experience communicating with Program Management



        Preferred Skills and Experience:


        • Deep knowledge of marine operating processes/operations
        • Ability to run simulations and analyze test data.
        • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
        • Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.



          Physical Demands and Expectations:


          • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
          • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
          • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
