The Nuclear Engineer & Program Advisor will be responsible for providing programmatic advice and will work closely with other senior leadership, technical experts, government counterparts, and others to devise and execute program activities and advance the organizations' scientific mission and strategy. This full-time position is available immediately to the qualified candidate.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Nuclear Engineer & Program Advisor will be responsible for a multitude of responsibilities in support of this critical mission. Essential duties may include:

  • Organize NSE site input and create recommended actions for federal stakeholders.
  • Supply technological guidance and support for phase processes and design reviews.
  • Develop program plans and assist in defining long-term strategic goals for advanced Use Control applications.
  • Communicate federal priorities to stakeholders from multiple NSE sites.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on nuclear use control activities, nuclear weapons or nuclear fuel cycles.
  • Act as a representative for the DOE/NNSA and facilitate interagency meetings with multiple government agencies.
  • Review and negotiate classification guidance for multiple projects to facilitate the update and release of relevant guides.
  • All other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • Active DOE Q or DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics, or a related field.
    • Must be organized and have a strong understanding of deliverables and effective timetables.
    • Travel Required, 25% and occasionally more is expected.
    • Broad experience in facilitating NNSA partnering with agencies on the development, qualification, production, and sustainment processes.
    • Experience with the NNSA Phase Process and the Integrated Phase Gate approach.
    • Experience coordinating with NNSA partner agencies in production of current designs and the development of emerging technologies.
    • Experience with DOD programs and technology that will further NNSA mission goals.
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
    • Experience as a derivative classifier.DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
      • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a technical or engineering discipline.
      • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the DOD and/or the DOE weapons complex.
      • Knowledge of organizational responsibilities within the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).
