full-time IT Support Engineer II to provide end user support - both
via phone and in person - and system support and maintenance within
the organization's desktop computing environment. This includes
installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all
hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance
and reliability. He or she will also troubleshoot problem areas (in
person, by phone, or via remote access) with wired and wireless
network connectivity, collaboration hardware and software, VPN
connectivity, etc. This position provides daily end user support
and acts as an escalation point for more junior technicians and
engineers.The IT Support Engineer II will set up laptop and desktop
computers and peripherals, test network connections, install and
support desktop software applications and operating systems, and
train end users on the use of computer hardware and software. The
IT Support Engineer II reports to the head of End User
Services.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Answer
phones, self-service tickets, emails, chats, and walk-ins.Respond
to hardware and application support queries and issues reported to
the IT Service Desk.Set up voice and video and collaboration tools
for meetings and presentations.Provide user and email account
administration, i.e., password resets, account moves, adds, and
changes in Active Directory and Microsoft 365.Use diagnostic tools
to troubleshoot problems associated with network connectivity and
workstation hardware/software.Use imaging and software deployment
tools and methodologies to load, copy, and customize operating
system configurations for deployment.Track hardware and software
for end user equipment as well as laboratory equipment.Take ticket
ownership and responsibility of queries, issues, and problems
assigned to the IT Service Desk.Work with vendor support contacts
to resolve technical issues within the desktop environment.Escalate
issues when required.Install and support Microsoft Office and
Windows applications.Develop new KB articles and SOPs as
needed.Understand and initiate high-level troubleshooting processes
for end user computing technologies including PC hardware, virtual
desktops, MS Office applications, security agents/tools, and
application performance on these devices.Provide conference room
support and maintenance, including audio/video equipment and end
user documentation, training, and day-to-day support.Provide
after-hours support when needed and provide rotating on-call
support.Perform any IT Service Desk task as needed in cases of
unavailable staff, etc.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree
preferred with a minimum of 5 years of applicable IT
experience.Significant experience supporting Microsoft Windows 10
desktop/laptops and Apple MacOS and iOS technologies and
devices.Specific Microsoft Outlook/Exchange experience, including
advanced troubleshooting skills.Experience with Service Now is
preferred.Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate under
pressure.A professional and courteous verbal and written
communications style is a key success factor.Must have well
developed troubleshooting skills to reach root cause, as well as
