Job Description

Your Career

We're looking for a front-end engineer to join the public sector Cyber Research team at Cortex, the team automating the SOC.

Our data collections architecture yields the best and most detailed global view into the device layer of the public Internet. Cyber Research Engineers use these datasets (ranging in size from gigabytes to petabytes) in unconventional ways to deliver critical cybersecurity insights that help protect some of the worlds largest networks.

Cyber Research work here is varied, exciting, and meaningful. We rapidly prototype new capabilities, we improve our Internet intelligence through unique forms of data collection, and we develop, maintain, and use our own tools to perform threat hunting. We are consistently shown the impact of our work and are proud to be a part of our nation's cyber defense.

Your Impact

  • Help bring a new threat intelligence product to market
  • Design and build web-based analysis workflows using React and REST APIs (Python)
  • Develop novel techniques and approaches for understanding the Internet and characterizing data for insights relevant to cyber threat intelligence
  • Empower threat intelligence analysts at Palo Alto and its customers to counter bad actors across the internet
    Qualifications

    Your Experience
    • Eligibility for a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret /SI level Security Clearance is required
    • 4+ years of experience as a professional software engineer building customer-facing software for a SaaS business
    • Experience designing and implementing user interfaces for data-intensive applications
    • Proficient in Javascript and/or Typescript
    • Proficient in frontend web frameworks, particularly React
    • Excited to work closely with analysts to build a toolkit for discovering and tracking APT campaigns across the internet
    • Prefer to ship features early and often. Experience with frontend testing methodology, CI infrastructure, and system observability for frontend projects
