Overview The Force Development Staff Support Officer (SSO) provides
Army G-8 leadership with expert analysis, validation, and
recommendations across the requirements, acquisition, and
modernization domains. This role is responsible for developing
investment strategies, reviewing JCIDS and acquisition
documentation, and preparing executive-level briefings that inform
decisions on future capabilities. Designated as key personnel with
TS/SCI clearance, the SSO ensures alignment with Army modernization
priorities—including robotics, artificial intelligence, synthetic
training environments, and advanced autonomous systems—while
sustaining situational awareness of assigned programs and
resourcing needs. Drawing on operational experience in combat,
combat support, or combat service support formations, the SSO plays
a pivotal role in shaping and advancing Army force development and
modernization initiatives. Essential Job Function 1. Requirements
and Acquisition Oversight Apply JCIDS (AR 71-9, CJCSI 3170.01) and
Defense Acquisition System (DoDI 5000.2) policies and procedures.
Review, analyze, and prepare recommendations on JCIDS and
acquisition documents for Army and Joint boards (AROC, JROC, JCB,
FCB, etc.). Support development and validation of requirements
documents (ICDs, CDDs, A-CDDs, ONS, BOIPs, ORDs). 2. Data Analysis
and Business Intelligence Extract and analyze data from Army
equipping and resource systems (AE2S-M, CAMS, LAQA, ETR, LQA,
cQUIP, AESIP, ECOP, FMSWeb, cPROBE). Build and deploy Business
Intelligence and automation tools (SharePoint, Power BI, Power
Apps, MS 365) to streamline processes and support reporting. 3.
Program and Resource Management Support planning, programming,
budgeting, and execution (POM, PPBE, SPAR, Extended Planning
Period). Develop and present investment and funding options
(RDT&E, procurement), validate AAO/APO requirements, and assess
impacts of PDMs or congressional actions. Monitor and update
allocation/distribution plans and resolve equipment shortfalls in
coordination with ASC (LMI) and PMs. 4. Force Development and
Modernization Contribute to long-range modernization strategies
that mitigate gaps, address emerging capabilities, and align with
Army priorities (ReARMM, MDO, AimPoint, NDS). Participate in TAA,
FFR, ARSTRUC, and modernization planning efforts. Conduct analyses
on doctrine, training, sustainment, and operational impacts to
ensure alignment with program requirements. 5. Leadership Support
and Coordination Prepare senior leaders with recommended positions,
decision-support materials, and analysis for boards, councils, and
conferences (AMEC, ASRCs, etc.). Provide timely written products
(information papers, EXSUMs, smart books, reports) within tight
deadlines. Coordinate across ASA(ALT), Army Staff, ACOMs, and Joint
stakeholders. 6. Communication, Reporting, and Documentation
Develop clear and concise program documentation, briefings, and
budget justifications. Maintain situational awareness of assigned
programs and provide rapid updates on funding, fielding, industry
factors, and risks. Input and maintain accurate data in force
development automated systems. 7. Subject Matter Expertise Apply
foundational operational or technical experience in combat, combat
support, and combat service support formations. Provide expertise
in FDH-specific programs such as robotic combat vehicles, sUAS,
loitering munitions, robotics, modular payloads, AI/ML, synthetic
training environments, and networks. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher A minimum of four (4) years of
experience and expertise in Force Development duties TS-SCI
Clearance Required ( AOs for Artificial Intelligence / Robotics are
required to have to TS/SCI clearance.) Ability to coordinate,
understand execution and completion of assigned activities and
tasks; Must possess the ability to communicate, collaborate, and
coordinate with the widest range of applicable internal and
external stakeholders. Must demonstrate excellent written
communications and assorted Microsoft Office skills Ability to
streamline processes, increase affordability, improve stakeholder
relationships, enhance communication, or improve efficiency and
effectiveness. Interdisciplinary skill set of PPBE, DOD acquisition
processes and procedures (DoDI 5000.2) as well as expertise with
materiel and /or force structure requirements development and
validation (JCIDS). Desired Qualifications Understanding and/or
completion of the following HTAR; RQM 1010/ CLR 101; RQM 1100
series / RQM 110; RQM 3100/310; CLR 151; RQM 2500/CLR 250; RQM
