Job Description Job Description Position Title: Special Education (SPED) Teacher Assistant Location: Ashburn, VA 20147 Job Type: Contract | Local or Travel Shift: Day Shift | 08:50 AM – 03:40 PM Assignment Length: 21 Weeks Weekly Hours: 40 hours Pay Rate: $19–$23 per hour Position Overview: "Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a dedicated Special Education (SPED) Teacher Assistant to provide instructional, behavioral, and classroom support to students with disabilities under the guidance of a licensed special education teacher. This role supports the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and helps maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The Teacher Assistant will collaborate with special education teachers, general education staff, and related service providers to support students’ academic, behavioral, and functional needs. Responsibilities: Support special education teachers in delivering instruction aligned with IEP goals and lesson plans Assist in implementing accommodations, modifications, and support strategies outlined in student IEPs Provide individual and small-group instructional support as directed Support students in inclusive and self-contained classroom settings Reinforce classroom routines, expectations, and behavior support plans Assist with data collection and documentation of student progress toward IEP goals Help prepare instructional materials and learning activities Support student engagement, communication, and social skill development Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and related service providers Assist with supervision during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field preferred Eligibility as a Teacher Assistant or paraprofessional per state/district requirements Experience working with students with disabilities in a school-based setting preferred Basic understanding of special education practices and IEP implementation Ability to support classroom management and student behavior Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills Flexibility, professionalism, and reliability in a school environment Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience as a SPED Teacher Assistant or paraprofessional Experience supporting students with a variety of disabilities Familiarity with behavior intervention plans and inclusive practices Ability to adapt quickly to classroom routines and student needs For more details contact at pmohanty@navitashealth.com or Call / Text at 516-806-4227 .
