Job Description:
Elizabethtown College seeks a highly motivated and experienced--
-Assistant Professor and Program Director in Actuarial Science--
-(full-time, tenure-track, 9-month appointment) to join our
Mathematics faculty in the School of Business.-- --- -The
successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and advising
undergraduate students in Actuarial Science, collaborating with
math and business faculty on curriculum development and assessment,
and contributing to the overall academic excellence of the School
of Business. The preferred start date is August 1, 2023; however,
January 1, 2024 and July 1, 2024 start dates will be considered for
highly qualified candidates. - Teaching undergraduate courses in
Actuarial Science, including but not limited to long-term and
short-term actuarial mathematics, financial mathematics,
probability theory, and mathematical statistics.
- Advising undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Actuarial
Science and helping them develop the necessary skills to become
successful professionals.
- Leading in collaboration with Mathematical Science and Business
faculty on continued development of a well-established and
successful Actuarial Science program that offers preparation for
all Associate level-- -SOA-- -credentialing exams.
- Leading the development and administration of assessments of
student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Maintenance of an active research and scholarly agenda,
preferably involving undergraduate students.
- Engaging in professional development activities to increase
teaching effectiveness and remain current with the latest
developments in the field of Actuarial Science.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with alumni and
potential employers.
- Enhancing student recruitment and retention efforts in Actuarial
Science.
-Contributing to the overall growth and success of the School of
Business and Elizabethtown College by service, including membership
on committees and/or councils. Required Qualifications: Candidates
should have actuarial credentials (Associate or Fellow) in either
the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society and
possess a minimum of a master--------s degree.
A strong commitment to quality teaching and advising at the
undergraduate level is expected. The successful candidate will be
able to collaborate with Mathematics and Business faculty and
contribute to our inclusive academic community. The position also
requires excellent communication skills and the ability to interact
and work effectively with students, colleagues, and industry
professionals.

be given to candidates with an advanced degree in Mathematics or
related field, and to those with teaching experience at the
undergraduate level.
Experience with or demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and
support students from historically underrepresented groups in
