Job Description:
Description The Genetics Division of the Department of
Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington (UW)
Medicine, is recruiting a----- -faculty member on the
Clinician-Teacher pathway at the rank of Assistant Professor
without tenure. The Genetics Division includes faculty who
collaborate with pathologists, laboratory geneticists, medical
geneticists, oncologists, and researchers across UW Medicine, Fred
Hutchinson Cancer Center, and Seattle Children--------s Hospital in
an extremely collegial, supportive, and interactive environment.--
- This position will be expected to engage in academic endeavors,
and to engage in clinical cytogenetics and laboratory genomics
research. Clinical review/release of cases and on-call
responsibilities will be shared with other Genetics Division
faculty focused on the application of cytogenetic and molecular
genetic technologies to evaluate cancer and inherited and rare
genetic disorders. This position will serve as a full-time clinical
director----- -for Genetics Division clinical laboratories that
have a broad test menu, including chromosome analysis, FISH,
chromosomal microarrays on both constitutional and oncology
specimens, inherited genetic disease testing, noninvasive prenatal
screening, and somatic tumor testing.----- -Opportunities exist to
participate in method validation and clinical research that can
lead to presentations and scientific publications. Additional
responsibilities include teaching residents, fellows, medical
students, and medical laboratory science undergraduate students.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an area of
scholarship appropriate to their clinical and/or educational
interests. Our large clinical laboratory team consists of ABMGG/ABP
board-certified laboratory directors who collectively sign out over
20,000 tests annually.----- --- - Assistant Professors without
tenure are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a
12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month
service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month
period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is
available for paid time off.-- - This position remains open until
filled with an anticipated start date of 7/1/2023, but is
flexible.-- - Associate Professors without tenure hold indefinite
appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June
30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months
of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the
equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This
position remains open until filled with an anticipated start date
of 7/1/2023, but is flexible.-- - UW Medicine faculty----- -engage
in patient care, educational programs, and translational
research.-- - The base salary range for this position will be:
Assistant Professor range: $11,537-- -to $21,433-- -per month
($138,443 to $257,190 annually), Associate Professor range: $15,006
to $26,236 per month ($180,075 to $314,833-- -annually),
commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by
a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This
range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW
Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided
by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by
the University is included in University benefit determinations and
calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice
plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that

completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam
(USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and
