The Department of Business Information Technology in the Pamplin
College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applications for
multiple non-tenure-track appointments at the Assistant Collegiate
Professor and Assistant Professor of Practice levels beginning
August 2023. The Business Information Technology major includes a
Cybersecurity Management and Analytics (CMA) major and two other
degree options in Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Operations and
Supply Chain Management (OSM). Preference will be given to
candidates who have expertise in security, privacy, risk
management, data ethics, data governance, data analytics, machine
and deep learning, or artificial intelligence. Candidates should
have the appropriate academic background and expertise to teach,
develop courses and conduct research (if applying for the Assistant
Collegiate Professor position) in such areas as information
security, risk management, privacy management, data ethics, data
governance, machine and deep learning, artificial intelligence, and
data analytics. We are seeking candidates who through their
research and/or professional experience, teaching, and/or service
can contribute to the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
efforts of the Pamplin College of Business community.
Duties will include teaching cybersecurity, information technology
(IT), and business analytics courses at the undergraduate and
graduate level. Experience teaching technical security courses,
security analytics, and/or data governance is preferred. Teaching
experience in areas such as security management, risk management,
privacy, security policy, data ethics, cyberlaw, forensics, data
analytics, and artificial intelligence would be beneficial. The
teaching load will be 9-12 credit hours per semester. Other duties
may include participation in departmental committees, and
activities including advising and mentoring students as assigned by
the Department Head. Occasional travel may be required to attend
professional meetings and conferences. Applicants are asked to

Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate in information systems, information technology,
operations management, operations research, management science or a
closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in IS or IT-related field (required for assistant collegiate
professor). Professional certifications in cybersecurity, IT, or
analytics.
