Job Description:
Position Summary: The Democratic National Committee seeks a
Deputy Studio Director to be a leader within our in-house
multimedia studios, used daily by Members of Congress as well as
party leadership, surrogates, and staff. This role runs shoots
independently, from pre-production through broadcast/delivery, and
is equally an administrator, producer, and technical operator. The
Deputy Studio Director must pivot seamlessly between logistics,
production, and human-centered execution. While proficiency with
studio gear and streaming software is required, success in this
role comes from the ability to remain calm under pressure, guiding
high-level principals through studio shoots with confidence and
professionalism. This position reports to the Studio Director and
is part of the DNC’s War Room operations. Responsibilities: As
needed, capture still and video content from events and assist
Respond to studio requests (via Calendly, email, Signal, Slack,
etc.) and convert them into production plans. Facilitate multiple
shoots per day, owning pre-production logistics, technical setup,
in-studio execution, and any/all deliverables. Operate physical
studio tools (lights, cameras, mics, teleprompter, etc.) and
software (Zoom, StreamYard, etc.). Welcome and guide principals and
their teams, projecting calm, warmth, and confidence as you direct
on-camera performances to meet strategic goals. Identify and
resolve technical challenges quietly and expertly, preserving the
comfort of external stakeholders. Maintain accurate shoot logs,
production records, and operational documentation using the Google
Workspace. Ensure that all video equipment is up to technical
standards, used appropriately, and stored safely Coordinate remote
shoots and livestreams. Other duties as assigned to support the
department and the DNC's mission. Qualifications: Three or more
years of experience capturing still and/or video footage;
experience working in politics is preferred but not required.
Significant experience in video production. Deep knowledge of video
equipment, including cameras, lenses, lights, microphones,
monitors, converters, and teleprompters. Knowledge of standard
aspect ratios for various social platforms. Knowledge of various
recording, editing, and finishing codecs. Producer mindset: you
take ownership and translate requests into clear, actionable
execution. Calm under pressure: composed, gracious, and effective
when the unexpected happens. Executive presence: comfortable
working with principals and external stakeholders, maintaining
warmth and professionalism. Strong communicator: timely,
responsive, and clear across email, Signal, Slack, and other
communication platforms. Technical proficiency: hands-on experience
with studio equipment and streaming software; eager and able to
learn new tools quickly. Knowledge of livestream production.
Organizational excellence: able to balance administrative tasks and
hands-on studio operations seamlessly. Collaborative spirit:
flexible team player who works across departments to ensure every
shoot reflects the DNC’s mission and standards Have the ability to
work independently and on a team; the ability to prioritize
multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You
must be in or willing to relocate to either Washington, D.C. Able
and willing to work outside standard business hours, on weekends,
and holidays as needed. Salary : The starting salary for the Deputy
Studio Director position is $80,000, on an annualized basis,
commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a
full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends. This
position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
