The Need For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Creative Intern to join the 2026 Fall Internship class. The Creative & Campaigns Team brings IJM’s strategy and stories to life through creative development and integrated campaigns that advance awareness, understanding, and action across key audiences. This internship will leverage the intern’s key skills, e.g., UX or design, to support the Creative and Campaigns team in our ongoing effort to produce impactful marketing materials and internal resources. The intern will contribute to pre-determined projects related to their skillset and interests while gaining hands-on design experience. Tasks may include: Canva build-out support; Global campaign support; Social media graphics and illustrations; Layout design; Graphic design; and Digital UX/UI design. This position can be fully in-person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Manager, Creative. The position requires 32-40 hours per week, primarily during the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm EST. As volunteers, interns and fellows receive a monthly stipend to help defray their expenses related to participating in the internship program. This volunteer stipend is not an hourly wage, nor wages paid for services provided by the intern or fellow. Fall internship program dates are September 14 – December 11, 2026. General Qualifications and Required Skills Bachelor's degree must be in progress for DC/Remote Internships and applicants need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study. Graphic design and digital design experience. Film creation/video editing and illustration skills are a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
