Job Description:
We have an excellent opportunity for a regular part-time (RPT)
Copy Editor to join the Science News Department.
Reporting to our Copy Chief for News, the RPT copy editor should be
able to edit articles quickly without sacrificing quality and work
in our content management system to produce online stories. They
should be familiar with AP Style and able to pick up Science style.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable multitasking and line
editing/reviewing stories multiple times.
This is a regular part-time position with a minimum of 20 hours per
week, with the greatest need on Mondays and Tuesdays and occasional
extra hours for vacation coverage. Open to remote workers, but a
candidate in the DC area should commit to coming into the office
1-2 days a week.

DC Metro Area is preferred but open to remote workers in select

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is
between $20,000 and $30,000 per year. AAAS currently provides the
following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid

retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, and life
insurance, each subject to the terms of the applicable program.
