Public - G Job Duties The Department of Behavioral Health and
Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking an experienced
professional to serve as one of the Waiver Assessment Quality
Specialist throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position
will provide oversight of the administration of the waiver
assessment, the Supports Intensity Scale® (SIS), in assigned
regions. This position will also provide information and training
as requested for the Division of Developmental Services (DDS)
staff, providers, families, and other state constituents on new
developments related to the SIS; assist in the coordination of SIS
scheduling with Community Services Boards (CSB),
individuals/families, and providers, along with supporting waiver
assessment efforts in electronic systems such as SIS-Online and the
Virginia Waiver Management System (WaMS); and perform the
verification function for SIS assessments and observe SIS
assessments throughout the state for quality assurance purposes.
The completion of these duties will include overnight travel
throughout the Commonwealth. This position serves as a member of
the DDS team through active participation in team meetings,
completion of special assignments, and representation as requested
at functions related to the business of DDS. All duties of this
position are 100% dedicated to the delivery of services for
Medicaid–sponsored individuals and programs. Minimum Qualifications
• Experience and knowledge of the waiver assessment (Supports
Intensity Scale® (SIS)). • Experience and understanding of best
practices in the Developmental Disability field. • Knowledge of
exceptional behavioral and/or exceptional medical supports. •
Working knowledge of public and private developmental disabilities
service delivery systems. • Ability and comfort with local and
overnight travel throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia (up to 50%
of the time) to meet the needs and demands of the Commonwealth. •
Ability to manage time and be self-directed to meet the demands of
a fast-paced environment, that may be outside of a typical work
schedule. • Ability to independently plan and implement assigned
tasks, as well as problem solve as needed. • Ability to
communicate, verbally and in writing, with a wide range of
constituents and agencies across the state in a professional
manner. • Ability to use a range of computer programs and database
applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Internet.
Additional Considerations • Experience in the delivery of human
service programs, including program design, development,
implementation, evaluation, in addition to staff development. •
Experience working with in a team dynamic with others including
cross disabilities and mental health services. Special Instructions
