Job Description Job Description The Role GovExec is seeking a senior-level FP&A professional to serve as a strategic deputy to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. In this role, you will act as the FP&A Director's right-hand, helping to drive forecasting rigor, elevate executive-level storytelling, and ensure operational excellence across budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. You will own key forecasting processes, lead cross-functional financial discussions, and step in as the FP&A lead when the Director is unavailable. The role requires strong judgement, deep financial acumen, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating with senior leaders across the business. Responsibilities Serve as the FP&A lead for several business units, independently owning forecasts, budgets, and long-range planning Act as a thought partner to senior management and help them evaluate strategic business decisions by proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and emerging trends Step in as deputy to the Director of FP&A for leadership meetings, forecast reviews, and executive presentations Develop and refine ARR/MRR models that reflect short and long-term business plans Own monthly close support and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in reporting Translate complex financial data into clear, concise narratives for senior management and prepare materials for senior leadership and board discussions Anticipate leadership questions and proactively address them in materials and presentations Drive automation and efficiency improvements in forecasting and budgeting using Adaptive, Tableau, Excel and other systems Identify gaps in data quality or workflows and implement solutions Help set standards for accuracy, clarity, and professionalism across the FP&A team Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field 5-8 years of corporate experience in an FP&A department or similar finance role Strong experience supporting subscription-based or recurring revenue businesses Experience with Workday Adaptive, NetSuite, Tableau, or similar tools preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial modeling capability Demonstrated ability to operate independently and lead without formal authority Strong executive communication, judgement, and interpersonal skills Success in This Role Looks Like Leadership trusts this person as a primary financial partner, not just a support resource Forecast cycles run smoothly with minimal surprises, rework, and escalations Financial narratives are clear, accurate, and aligned across stakeholders The FP&A Director can confidently delegate ownership of major workstreams About GovExec GovExec’s data and insights set the standard for depth, accuracy, and impact for government leaders and contractors.
