Job Description:

Qualifications* * Accounting: 2 years (Required)* US work authorization (Required)* Bachelor's (Preferred)* GAAP: 1 year (Preferred)I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:Under the direction of the Director of Accounting, the staff accountant works on a number of duties within the accounting department including bank reconciliations, month-end close, payroll journal entries, and other duties.II. BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Reconciles monthly bank statements for review.2. Reconciles monthly investment for review.3. Prepares month-end journal entries for the Director of Accounting to review including prepaid expenses, fixed assets/depreciation, investments, and reclass/allocation entries.4. Prepare inter-company allocation entries.5. Support all day-to-day accounting functions.6. Help process the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process7. Serve as backup to accounts payable and the payroll process when necessary. Duties include, but are not limited to:a. Review invoices for accuracy and approval.b. Submit positive pay file to the bank after checks are run. Create new vendors when necessary.c. Create manual checks to record ACH payments.8. Reviews payroll entries prepared by consultant to ensure accuracy. Communicate any questions/issues to Director of Accounting. Ensure payroll liabilities are updated and accurate each month.9. Assist with the financial statements audit.10. Assist in special projects when necessary.III. MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:Skills:1. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.2. Ability to collaborate in a complex environment with multiple competing priorities.3. Ability to manage time effectively.4. Microsoft Excel skills required (e.g. vLookup formulas, if/then formulas)5. Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness6. Strong problem identification skills, including the ability to identify issues in a timely manner to supervisor and exercise common sense and sound judgment.7. Detailed oriented and the ability to think critically.Knowledge:1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.2.
