Based in Washington, DC (with team members in Knoxville,
Tennessee) and reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief
Operating Officer will be a passionate, innovative leader with
extensive experience leading transformational mission-based
organizations. Our dedication to the communities we serve and our

We have our eye out for a COO who brings a combination of
successful non-profit and business approaches to our work, our
culture and our organization.
Working closely with the CEO and the Chief Policy and Program
Officer (CPPO), the COO will drive vital operational functions to
ensure the Amputee Coalition has the infrastructure and approach in
place to continue our success and impact. The COO will lead
critical operational functions that contribute to our success:
Finance, IT, Marketing Communications, Development, Human
Resources, and Database Management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Working in collaboration with the Board of Directors, the CEO, COO
and CPPO will set and drive the organizational vision and strategy
and the operational goals to achieve that vision.
What does success look like for the COO? This newly created
position will significantly contribute to organizational vision and
translate that vision into operational goals, ultimately leading to
organizational growth and individual staff performance
Specific responsibilities include:
Serve as a critical partner in the development and implementation
of organizational strategies, and ensure achievement of operational
goals and organizational outcomes organization-wide.
Provide strategic leadership and cross-functional management to
teams reporting to the COO, prioritizing programmatic and
organizational alignment with Amputee Coalition's organizational
vision and operational goals.
In partnership with leaders throughout the organization, continue
to build a highly inclusive culture, and ensure staff growth and
Engage the Board of Directors to ensure alignment with annual
budgets and annual goals with the organization's strategic
Oversee all financial operations, including vendor management,
annual audits, general accounting, and development of annual
budgets (in partnership with CEO).
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of reporting for federal, state
funders, foundations and Board of Directors.
Work closely with Director of Development to identify, develop and
obtain Federal, State, Corporate, and Foundation funding
Manage the overall strategy and operational implementation of the
Human Resources function: Talent Acquisition, Compensation,
Payroll, Benefits (including 401K), Professional Development,
culture, performance management, and succession planning.
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and
laws for Amputee Coalition.
