Job Description:
As a leading Residential Treatment Center in the Greater
Richmond area, Hallmark Youthcare treats adolescents with emotional
and behavioral issues triggered by trauma. Treatment is provided in
a warm and friendly environment by a group of well-trained, highly
motivated staff that takes pride in delivering quality care.Under
the supervision of the Dietary Director and in his/her absence the
Food Production Supervisor the Cook prepares and serves food for
Facility residents, staff and families or guests under safe and
sanitary conditions, to include food for special functions. The
Cook follows guidelines for portion control and meal service
schedules. The Cook is responsible for maintaining order in
specific areas as directed by the Dietary Director/and or the Food
Production Supervisor. The Cook is responsible for all other
kitchen functions such as assembling resident trays, operating dish
room, cleaning all Food and Nutrition services equipment and work
areas.WE ARE A DRUG FREE EMPLOYER.*Pay: Up to $18hr (including
shift differentials)**Hours: 8 hour shifts, every other weekend
off**Duties/Responsibilities:** Prepares and portions daily meals
and food for special functions in a timely manner using established
departmental policies and procedures. Assures presentation of all
menu items adhere to established standards. Follows standardized
recipes and produces a consistent product.* Maintain work in
sanitary condition.* Performs various baking tasks.* Assists in
slicing, plating and wrapping desserts for cafeteria and
residents/families. Assists in preparing special baking items.*
Responsible for cleaning and proper use of equipment and reports
repairs as needed. All assigned kitchen equipment is cleaned on a
consistent basis and passes all kitchen inspections. Cleans
cafeteria including serving area continually and cleans the
cafeteria area after each meal.* Completes appropriate requirements
to maintain continuing professional competence (SERV Safe
Certification, Thompson Prometric or National Registry of Food
Safety Professionals, Food Safety Manager
Certification*Competencies:** Must promote the ability to take
direction with efficiency and make decisions in the best interest
of the residents, department, or the Facility* Must promote high
food service standards in sanitation and safety issues.* Must
demonstrate the ability to work efficiently with time and motion in
meeting schedule deadlines* Must demonstrate the ability to learn,
comprehend and utilize approved diet manual for therapeutic diets.*
Must be able to improve service as identified through department
and Facility-wide PI system.* Demonstrates knowledge and skills
necessary to provide services to specific ages served: adolescents
11 to 17 years of age.*Requirements:** Must be 21 years or older in
age.* *Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.**
High School Diploma or GED required.* *Minimum of 3-5 years of food
preparation, cooking and principles of sanitation and safety
required.** *Minimum of 2 years of supervision or dietary
leadership required.** SERV Safe Certification - National
Restaurant Association, Educational Foundation* Thompson Prometric
- Certified Professional Food Manager* National Registry of Food
Safety Professionals, Food Safety Manager Certification* If not
certified, must provide at time of hire receipt/confirmation of
scheduled class/testing for certification from one of the above
listed institutions and become certified by one of the above
